Emerald Lagoon: COMFORT AND ADVENTURE

Visit the Emerald Lagoon and enjoy lunch in the dome.

This proposal in this southern environment, will take us through a magical native forest, to know Laguna Esmeralda and finish in the heat of a firewood salamander in a unique mountain dome. This will transform a hot lunch into a unique experience. The adventure begins as we drive along National Route 3, towards the entrance gates of the city of Ushuaia. Mount Olivia and Mount 5 Hermanos clearly mark the course to follow. Once in the valley of tierra mayor, we will start the 5km trekking (10km total) to a paradise between mountains. The valleys are the product of the erosion that immense glaciers produced in the past, today we can see their history in the color of the water. After the initial briefing on the use of crampons and poles, we submerged ourselves in a sub-Antarctic forest, a former axe-men’s area and current habitat of beavers. Finally, we will arrive at the The lagoon, which depending on the present conditions may be frozen, and according to the guide’s criteria, we will be able to cross it walking on the ice, an experience that will surely remain in our memories.

Lunch in the mountains

Our dome will offer us shelter and the warmth of the fire will recover us from the hike. A good mountain stew, a friendly chat and a shared moment will make the rest of the journey an enjoyable experience. We will not miss a good hot coffee to finish contemplating the area and start our return, charged with the energy of the south!

Esmeralda Sunset:

If you like night activities, we recommend you to hire the Sunset option. We hike the trail to the lagoon at sunset and finish with a delicious dinner inside the dome while we warm up. On the way back we will appreciate the starry sky if the clouds allow it. Which one do you prefer? For this activity it is MANDATORY to have thermal clothing, waterproof, trekking boots, backpack, water bottle.

A unique experience in a paradise between mountains: arriving to the valley of tierra mayor we start trekking through the sub-Antarctic forest to see the beautiful mirror of water that forms the Laguna Esmeralda, which can be frozen depending on the season.
