The journey begins early in the morning from your accommodation or meeting point in the city of El Calafate, and then we head to the private port “La Soledad,” located about 47 kilometers outside the city. Once at the port, we will board the boat and set sail towards the northern channel of Lake Argentino. As we advance, icebergs will decorate our passage through the Upsala Channel, with meltwater from the glacier of the same name (Upsala Glacier, currently in retreat).
Then, we will head to the Spegazzini Channel to see several hanging glaciers such as Seco, Heim Sur, and Peinetta as we continue our walk until we reach the front of the highest glacier in the National Park: the Spegazzini Glacier.
We will then disembark in a quiet bay where Las Vacas Post is located. Once there, we will walk for about 20 minutes along the coast, appreciating the Patagonian Andean forest and its historical significance.
After that, we will embark once again to reach our final destination: the north wall of the Perito Moreno Glacier!
