Trekking Across the Cordillera + Packrafting

Cross the imposing Andes Mountains and enjoy packrafting in Lago Escondido.

A low-difficulty outing designed for those who want to get to know a variety of landscapes of the Fuegian mountain range in a day of adventure. We combine two activities, mountain trekking and paddling in individual inflatable boats on the Escondido Lake. No previous experience is necessary but a minimum of physical condition is required. The first part of the tour is by van for approximately one hour, leaving the city of Ushuaia through the RN 3. We travel along the route through the Tierra Mayor Valley, where the winter centers and the Andes Mountain Range show us different postcards on the side of the road until we reach the Garibaldi Pass, the highest point in the mountain where the trekking begins. Our hike begins among different species of flora and native forest. We pass through peat bogs and the Twin Lagoons, the 360° landscape of the Andes Mountains is beautiful. In winter the place is snowed in and the hike is done with snowshoes. Our trail continues until we reach some natural rock terraces overlooking the other side of the Andes Mountains. Here we will be able to appreciate the Escondido and Fagnano Lakes, a panoramic point where we will share the views and a nice moment. The total duration of the hike is three hours, designed for everyone to enjoy without being overdemanding. After the first hike we return to the vehicle and cross the other side of the mountain range to stop at the head of Lago Escondido. Here we will share a delicious lunch while we prepare the boat equipment. After the paddling technique and safety talk, we start paddling, floating, feeling the movement of the water, we move in search of different landscapes. The boats are very stable which makes them very safe and easy to control. If the paddling activity cannot be done due to weather conditions, we will modify the route to other trekking activities of low difficulty but of high scenic attraction.
